Consumer Grade Film is producing a feature-length movie, In Circles, and they need your help. As they write on their website:
Consumer Grade Film is a U.S. Midwestern collective of filmmakers focusing on low-budget, socially-conscious projects. Our current works in progress include the short, Ubercreep, the feature length film, In Circles, and the YouTube channel, VHS Girl. We are open to collaboration with other filmmakers focusing on similar content.
About In Circles:
Midwest teenagers Carmen, Stephen, and Virgil sell stolen prescription drugs in order to pay for an abortion, while the small farm town they live in is being threatened by a drilling company.
The following character sketches (again, taken from their website) give a glimpse into the project and why it is well worth funding (see the demo reel for In Circles below):
Carmen
The closest thing to this story’s heroine, Carmen has been upset with the world ever since her mother dropped her off at Aunt Janice’s house years ago. After moving in with her boyfriend, Stephen, in the next town over, she thinks her circumstances have changed for the better. Or they will... after she finds a way to pay for her abortion. With a bag of stolen prescription drugs and the help of her friend, Virgil, Carmen spends the day as designated driver on a trip around the river valley, where their series of transactions are anything but simple.
Virgil
The definition of “river rat.” Virgil was born and raised in the outskirts of Futurity, a rural village of no more than five hundred. A high-school drop-out and laid-off from his job at the local meat packing plant, Virgil has the time and connections to hustle the pills in Futurity. His confidence, however, might be bigger than his ability, and the combination of booze and pills isn’t helping.
Stephen
Naive but truly caring, Stephen is the father of Carmen’s baby. As far as he knows, anyway. Stephen’s power move in their scheme for quick cash was swiping the bottle of pills from his drug addled family member. Out of the comfort zone of his hometown, and increasingly more delirious due to his “sample” of the pills, Stephen is, more or less, just along for the ride.
Blaze
Blaze is Futurity’s favorite vagabond. Well, the favorite of some. Others firmly disapprove of his lifestyle. What none of them know is that Blaze just struck it rich when he sold his only possession: an important piece of Futurity property that will allow Crescent Energy to begin their long-awaited drilling operation.
